UKIP Sheffield Chairman Jonathan Arnott has reacted angrily to news that Sheffield City Council has re-employed at least 26 former members of staff who had received voluntary redundancy packages.
Jonathan said "It's astonishing that Sheffield City Council has wasted so much taxpayers' money on this. We need clear systems for avoiding this kind of waste - the cost to taxpayers is unknown, but could potentially run into six figures. If the Council was planning to re-employ staff, it could have redeployed them rather than offer them expensive redundancy packages."
UKIP Sheffield believes that our Council should be held to account and that taxpayers' money should be treated with respect.
