Scuka case shows that the UK can no longer protect its citizens

The case of Kajus Scuka, convicted this week and jailed for
life at Sheffield Crown Court for a string of sex attacks on women,
demonstrates just how bad the so-called ‘free movement of peoples’ within the
European Union has been for the country.

The Czech came to the UK after being released from prison
for killing his wife after she caught him cheating on her. But amazingly, UK police knew nothing at all
about his previous convictions. In the
Daily Express, Det. Sgt. Ian Harding of South Yorkshire Police said “It is a
concern that people of this nature move freely about the EU without any
restriction”.

of society. It seems that whilst our
government is interfering more and more in people’s daily lives, it is
neglecting its most basic functions. Of
course, people move between countries but it should be up the UK (and every other
country) to decide who should be allowed
to visit and settle. Sadly, as members
of the European Union we have lost this most basic of rights.”

Duchess of York case proves UKIP right

UKIP Sheffield has responded to claims that the Turkish government will seek the extradition of the Duchess of York on 'privacy' charges after she uncovered poor treatment of Turkish orphans for a documentary.

The offence is not a crime under UK law so the Home Office have no legal grounds to extradite - but the situation would be far different if Turkey were in the European Union.

UKIP Sheffield Chairman Jonathan Arnott said:

"The reason that we have a say about extradition is that Turkey is not a member of the EU. If it were an EU country, we would have no choice but to extradite her because a European Arrest Warrant could be issued. The European Arrest Warrant has caused many innocent people to be sent abroad to face trial - with our own courts powerless to stop it."
